My husband and I do a lot of driving around the back roads of Colorado. There are a lot of places we haven't been to yet. But I'm amazed at how many abandoned houses and farmsteads I've come across on our travels.
Some are falling down. Neglected. Forgotten...
It makes me wonder...what does it take a for a family to leave behind a life they've known. To walk away. Was it for something better? Desperation? Death? Or are they heading out to a new life? A new start?
The writer in me can ponder for hours on this...

All kinds of reasons, no doubt. Many of them are probably sad. Thanks for sharing these great photos!
Welcome. I'm always left with a feeling of sadness when I see so many abandoned places along the road.
