My husband and I do a lot of driving around the back roads of Colorado. There are a lot of places we haven't been to yet. But I'm amazed at how many abandoned houses and farmsteads I've come across on our travels.
Some are falling down. Neglected. Forgotten...
It makes me wonder...what does it take a for a family to leave behind a life they've known. To walk away. Was it for something better? Desperation? Death? Or are they heading out to a new life? A new start?
The writer in me can ponder for hours on this...

Summit Lake
Summit Lake is at 12,800 feet. These pics just don't do it justice.
I love those flowers. I wonder if I can get some to grow in my yard. Probably not. I can't even get my grass to live.

pics from the summit
Heh...here's from the very top. Very, very cold up there. The rangers were wearing winter coats. And windy.
More pics of from the summit.
There's an outlook set on the summit so you can park and walk around.

More pics of Mount Evans
Yeah, you all are gonna hate stopping by here because I'm turning into that annoying great aunt that love to show off her holiday pictures. But it felt wonderful being up there. Well, calming for me.
There's just something neat about looking out the window and seeing clouds.
I'm adding this just because I think this is a really cool picture.
